How long does a property transfer take?

A standard property transfer typically takes 8 to 12 weeks from the date of signing the offer to purchase. At Strydom Attorneys, we strive for a faster turnaround, often completing transfers in as little as 3 weeks where circumstances allow.

What documents do I need for a property transfer?

You will need a certified copy of your ID, proof of residence, marriage certificate (if applicable), the original title deed, and rates clearance from the municipality. Our team will provide you with a complete checklist specific to your transaction.

Who pays for the transfer costs?

In South Africa, the buyer generally pays the transfer costs, which include transfer duty (paid to SARS), conveyancing fees, and municipal rates clearance charges. The seller is responsible for bond cancellation costs and compliance certificates.

Can you handle property transfers outside of Gqeberha?

Yes, we handle property transfers across South Africa. While our office is in Gqeberha, we regularly process transfers in all provinces through the national deeds registry system.
